I have been selling cruise holidays for over 40 years.
I have a soft spot for The Baltic as this was my first ever cruise destination and I love those historic ports of call and scenic islands.
I have been fortunate to have sailed with Regent Seven Seas, but have visited Oceania Cruises and Silversea ships.
The sense of space is the first thing you notice. Then there is the upgraded level of service. Things like the quality of the fixtures and fittings, the quality of the bathroom amenities. It really does feel like you are in a very different place entirely, the moment you step on board.
I would like to take a cruise along the coast of South America up to Europe and explore the cities of Brazil, and then have time to relax on board before taking in some of the more familiar destinations. A cruise does need to include plenty of ship time.
The first three things in my case are sunglasses, camera and sun cream.
1) Choose your ship carefully as the cruise is your main destination after all.
2) Make sure you carefully select a suite or cabin that best suits your needs.
3) Do not be afraid of those formal nights - they are actually a lot of fun.
